Vintage Madame Alexander Cissy-a Beautiful Blonde
From my personal collection, here is a pretty light blonde vintage Cissy doll by Madame Alexander dressed and ready for display. She is wearing her custom-made "dress of many colors" fashioned from a beautiful piece of vintage 1950s polished cotton and with wonderful crispness. Colors include yellow, olive green, white, orange and light purple The dress is made to Cissy specs and has a pretty lace trim at the sleeve openings and a black velvet bow adorning the neckline. There are three square snaps for closure in the back. The skirt is very full and stands out beautifully. Underneath is a lace-trimmed circular half slip of vintage lemon yellow taffeta, along with a matching panty. She wears original Cissy hose in very good condition (top elastic slightly loose on right stocking) and 50s-style black patent sandal heels borrowed from "Fifties Swing" modern Cissy--perfect for this outfit.

Cissy's hat is an original and hard-to-find bright yellow straw with black velvet ribbon encircling the crown and streamers in the back. This hat is usually seen with the lemon yellow checked taffeta dress with white collar and cuffs. The straw is perfect, the elastic band is unstretched, the black velvet going around the crown is very good, but the streamers are fragile due to some tiny cuts on the edges, the worst one being up around where they are tied. Also some fraying on the ends, as you would expect with age. Was never able to figure out how to stabilize the ties, so just left them alone and have treated them with great care.

This damage really isn't obvious on display. Cissy's accessories include a lemon yellow glass bead necklace and matching bracelet, hard-to-find yellow nylon vintage gloves, and an extremely cute Me Too purse in black patent with a flexible strap handle rather than a rigid one. It's in very good condition, but the flowers are a little tired. Had intended to replace them with some yellow velvet forget-me-nots, but never got around to it. There are matching earrings that go with the necklace and bracelet, and even though the doll does not have pierced ears, I will send them with her in case you might want to have her ears pierced.

Cissy appears to be the infused plastic variety. I have had her for almost 12 years, but have no idea about her life before I bought her. I did have her hair professionally restyled way back, and I'm fairly sure her eyelashes were replaced.

Hard to remember specifically when a lot of years have passed. Should keep records, I suppose. Her hair is soft and shiny.

Also, a flew fly-aways have developed over time, but I would say minimal. As stated previously, I believe her facial coloring is original, and she has pretty blue eyes that open and close with ease Her stringing is good, and all joints work well.

She has joints at the head, shoulders, elbows, hips, and knees. She has blush remaining on her knees, but if there is any remaining on her vinyl hands, it is very light.

She has a small split at the top of her left leg that is well inside the body cavity. Looks like something was applied at some point at the end of the split to keep it stable. I don't see anything else with regard to the hard plastic. The upper portion of her right vinyl arm looks to be a little bit pinker than the rest of the arm and the left arm.

Under normal display conditions, I have noticed no distraction with this There are no tears to the vinyl, but the right arm has the flange remaining and the left arm does not. Cissy is a beautiful doll, but not perfect after 60 plus years. She is a gorgeous display doll, and I hope someone can enjoy her as much as I have.

Hard to list a doll you really love, but I have to start letting some of them go. I have more pictures, but had posted the maximum.

If you would like other pictures, please let me know so I can send them to you. You might like to see a pic of her with her eyes closed. My home is non-smoking, and my dolls live in air-conditioned, low-light rooms. Thanks for taking a look at this pretty Cissy girl.
