21 Dazzling Rare Vintage Madame Alexander Kathryn Grayson Mystery Portrait doll
Up for sale is the 21 Dazzling, RARE vintage Madame Alexander Kathryn Grayson of the 1951 Fashion Academy Mystery Portrait series. The Mystery Portrait series were all exceptional dolls---only a small amount of each doll was made.
She has elaborate "make-up" and facial paint --- around the eyes, lashes (top eyeliner, bottom lashes and side dramatic lashes), lovely blushing and rosy full lips, blue eyes, full, long, thick eyelashes. Her hair is a rare shade of red, in lovely original set.
Her hair is adorned from ear, around the back, to the other ear with lovely flowers, leaves etc. Her crisply tagged gown is truly outstanding! The entire bodice of the gown is tulle netting, unique floral lace covered in still rather SPARKLY prong-set rhinestones. There are a few little white dots on the tulle near the top of the lace bodice, which appears to be perhaps a small repair to the netting there.
It is small, and not very noticeable. The outer layer of tulle is crisp and in excellent condition. It has a under layer of very fine, silky tulle, which has a few ragged edges and holes near the hem, but is hidden under the top layers of the skirt. Lastly her inner-most layer of her skirt is creamy satin, as are her panties, both are in fantastic condition as well. She has a black lace bracelet with prong-set rhinestones, pearl tear-drop earrings, and lovely lace and retecule/ handbag covered in light cream lace that matches the bodice of the dress.The lace on the bodice and handbag are both still rather light cream/ haven't darkened much with age. She wears stockings, and flat satin snapping shoes in nice condition (both shoes have soles, but one is missing a heel). Comes from a smoke and pet home, and is without odors. Overall, she is in fantastic condition, with complete outfit and accessories, original, and a beautiful rare piece of history!
