Lot of 43 Madame Alexander 8 dolls from around the world, EVC. Overall, this is a beautiful collection of vintage M. They are from an estate in Ednyville, NC (near Asheville) and have been properly stored for many years. However, regardless of how well they were stored, certain things can happen during storage; deterioration, smells, materials fading... Within this collection, the most common issue is that of the deterioration of the rubber bands that hold the dolls together.
Most of these dolls are at least 30 years old, and rubber bands are not meant to last that long. There are less than a handful of dolls that cannot stand up on their own because the bands have either broken completely or are very, very loose. But the dolls are in excellent condition, the faces are beautiful, the outfits are pristine with stunning detail. There are less than ten dolls where the sleepy eyes do not open and shut on their own but, they do work manually. There is definitely more wear that shows on the boxes.
And most of them are in very decent condition with only normal storage wear: small creases, edge or corner wear, a few with split corners (that have been taped), remnants of tape on some, maybe a price tag or one that has been removed and took the colored paper away.. The pictures of the boxes are so you can see what I think is an excellent box (left) vs a not-so-great box. They both work as intended but one looks much better than the other. I would say there are one or two that I feel are in mint condition, and maybe a handful or two of them being a bit battered but still very usable.
