Her original ivory satin hairbow is still tied to her braids with original ties holding braids intact. Madeline is not a mint doll---she has some uneven body color: her lower arms are a bit lighter than her upper arms (not noticeable in this dress) and her lower legs are lighter than her upper legs (also not noticeable when dressed). She came to me wearing only her ORIGINAL BLACK SHINY OILCLOTH SNAP SHOES (one heel is missing, see photo of her lying down) and ORIGINAL SILKY SOCKS & IVORY SATIN HAIRBOW from her original attire. SHE HAS THE SWEETEST SMILE! She went "shopping" in my Doll Boutique and chose this RARE VINTAGE CHECKERED SILK BOLERO SCHOOL DRESS which is a replica of the one photographed on page 9 of the booklet MADAME ALEXANDER'S FASHIONS FOR MADELINE---a mini-catalog printed for Little Girls to see the many wonderful outfits Madame designed for this adorable child doll.

I was first introduced to MADELAINE (MADELINE) in 1955 when my Grandmother's Cousin gave my sister and I ONE VERY SPECIAL DOLL---A BLONDE BALL-JOINTED MADELAINE DOLL. I call her "Madelaine" because the tagged taffeta dress (really a petticoat) that she wore said "MADELAINE by MADAME ALEXANDER". FOR ME---IT WAS LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT. I STILL HAVE HER and I STILL LOVE HER. She was the very first Madame Alexander Doll I met---she began my Love Affair with Madame's Dolls. Over the years I have collected 18 Madeline dolls, loving each one for their own unique qualities. The TRIO OF MADELINE DOLLS PHOTOGRAPHED TOGETHER for this listing are not included in this listing---each doll is listed separately. Very few Doll Makers chose better fabric for the doll clothes than Madame A. This dress is not tagged. It has ORIGINAL WHITE METAL SNAPS at the back closure. On page 3 of the MADAME ALEXANDER MADELINE BOOKLET, Madame describes her dresses for Madeline as being made with no frustrating safety pins (commonly used in the 1940s), but buttons and buttonholes, or snap fastenings making dressing and undressing MADELINE lots of fun. THIS BOLERO DRESS HAS ORIGINAL WHITE METAL SNAP FASTENINGS---STILL IN PLACE---WORKING FLAWLESSLY. It could be an EARLY 1950 ALEXANDER FASHION: the SILVERY SHEEN WOVEN SILK FABRIC struts beautifully. The bodice fits Madeline perfectly---made from a textured ivory RAW SILK matching collar and cuffs. An original black grosgrain ribbon is sewn at the neckline. ITS "FIT AND FINISH" CERTAINLY APPEAR TO MEET MADAME'S STANDARDS. Miss Madeline loves this dress.

She chose a NEW CUSTOM MADE BLACK SATIN PAIR OF PANTIES WITH WIDE LACE TRIM and a NEW CUSTOM MADE BLACK NET CRINOLINE trimmed in BLACK SATIN RIBBON. "My panties and petticoat match my very pretty shiny black shoes" she whispers. Madeline wears a NEW IMPORTED SILVERTONE STRETCH BRACELET with petite prong set pink "stones". Matching the pastel pink in her OOAK IMPORTED MINI-ROSE BOUQUET for her Teacher. MISS "BLONDE IN BLUE" MADELINE has been on display in my PET FREE, SMOKE FREE DOLL ROOM OFFICE, protected from sunlight & temperature extremes with her school girl friends.

I WILL MISS HER DEARLY but she is ready to begin a new Dolly Adventure! BEING RESTRUNG---SHE IS READY TO TRAVEL AND ENJOY SEEING THE WORLD---with many years of enjoyment left in her Dolly Life.
