She said that she was in the best condition for a Scarlett that she had seen in over 30 years in business! I have tons of pictures, and will detail any flaws and relevant details below. Scroll Down for Photos Doll: Scarlett is a 14 composite doll, and she is correctly marked on the back of her head. She has her original hairstyle (I believe that this is made of real human hair), complete with little gold colored pins. She comes with her original tagged Madame Alexander outfit, which includes one of the rarer dresses, with a built in hoop skirt, a straw hat with fabric flowers on it, pantaloons, silk socks, and black shoes.
I have lots of pictures of her body, but here is what I have noticed. Overall she has very little crazing for a composite doll her age. Most of her body is remarkably smooth with the original paint even her knees have a faint flush color to them to make them look more real! There is some faint crazing to her face, most notably down her nose. There is also a line down the back of one of her arms, and an area where the arm joint meets the body that has the slightest of chipping. There is one tiny area of paint loss on one finger, and a couple of areas where the clothing has rubbed on her chest and the color is a little lighter. She does have two hairline cracks under her wig on the head (you can't see them unless you pull the wig up). There is a little paint transfer from her lips to her chin, and one line that looks like pen on her forehead (not a crack). Her eyes are AMAZING- bright and crystal green like they were put in yesterday (I speculate that the trunk was on its side and her eyes were closed all these years). She has most of her original eyelashes with one small area missing on the left eye. Clothing: There are a total of 31 pieces of original 1930s clothing included.A few are pretty simple, but most are really expertly done with the highest quality material (antique lace, silks, satin, handmade satin flowers, with pieces lined in matching materials). Items are in excellent condition unless otherwise noted. I have cataloged the clothing below: 1. Original tagged Madame Alexander Dress. This is in almost pristine condition with one small spot that I have not tried to clean.
A second similar pair of pantaloons 4 & 5. There is a spot of yellow on one sock, and a hole in another. Original lace up black boots with medallions- in near mint condition. A sweet lace covered bra that someone decided was needed for modesty- in fair condition. Long Silk panties- in fair/poor condition.A pink satin hat with satin flowers 11. A pink satin bodice with antique lace cuffs 12. A pink satin and antique lace skirt. A green velvet cape lined in pale peach silk and adorned with satin flowers.
A green velvet hat lined in pink silk and edged in satin flowers and lace. A flower pattern cotton hat edged in lace with a blue ribbon (ribbon is fraying) 16.
A flower pattern cotton dress edged in lace, with blue undersleeves. A black velvet hat with blue and red plumes (feathers need securing). Black silk jacket with red detailed jet buttons down the front. Jacket is lined with patterned satin matching the inside of the hat and the skirt. Flat hat with satin ribbon and satin flower accents.
22 23 24 25 & 26. Three 1930s style dresses, one fabric hat, and one bolero jacket. Additional hoop petticoat (waist seems a little wide, may need some adjustments to fit) 28. Antique lace stole/collar 29 & 30. Black faux fur hat and hand muff 31.
Original straw hat that came with the doll, with fabric flowers on top as seen in the first picture. In addition there is a large 20" x 10.5" x 11 1940s doll trunk complete with hangers and pull out drawers. The inside is in very good condition, but the outside has seen better days as shown. It has fun travel stickers on it, and is made by the Educational Playthings Company, in Massachusetts.
