VINTAGE MADAME ALEXANDER CISSY IN TAGGED DRESS WithACCESSORIES
This is a vintage Cissy doll by Madame Alexander dressed in a tagged red velveteen dress and fully accessorized. She was manufactured in the late 1950s and is from my personal collection.
Cissy is 20 inches tall and has joints at the head, shoulders, hips and knees. Her vinyl arms are also jointed. The remainder of her body is hard plastic. All joints work well, and her stringing is good.
No tears or damage to her vinyl arms. Cissy has had professional repairs done to seam splits at the tops of both legs. Her blushing was refreshed and a matte finish applied to her face.Can't recall if her lashes were replaced or not, but they are all there. Her eyes have the typical color change and are a combination of blue-green-amber. They open and close well. Cissy has the shorter brunette wig with some fly-aways or hairs that don't want to lay smooth. The wig is intact, but stray hairs will readily pull out of the wig.
That said, I haven't messed with it much since it looks fine for display. As with every Cissy I have, the left leg seems slightly longer than the other, so on a stand, she is displayed in a slight walking position.
Her sleeveless A-line dress has four snaps down the back for closure, and the pretty chevron applique on the bodice has all of its bright stones. The velveteen is a rich, deep red and not quite as bright as some of the pictures might suggest. Under her dress, she wears a pair of Cissy taffeta panties with good elastic, vintage seamed stockings in good condition (not original Cissy ones) and a darling full slip belonging to the more modern 21-inch Jackie doll. She wears a pair of gold Premier high heels that had never been on a doll and a wonderful vintage woven gold metallic cap on her head (a very pretty and unusual piece). Her other accessories include a gold-and-rhinestone replica bracelet, a knock-out diamond ring, and a pretty gold cloth evening bag with rhinestone handle.The bag has a snap closure. At one time, she would hold the bag between her thumb and fingers, but it doesn't want to stay put that way any longer, so the handle can be used to go around her hand. It is shown both ways in the pictures. The ring is non-adjustable, but has a taller basket with a saw-tooth edge rather than the typical Cissy ring. She is really a lovely display doll and comes from a smoke-free home.
